Manure Management
A sound manure management plan can turn a waste product into a valuable resource. Manure can provide farm land with a lot of benefits if managed properly. With it's high application cost, low nutrient analysis, and potential environmental risk, manure certainly needs a plan in order to stay a valuable resource.
Planning for Long-term Productivity and Environmental Sustainability
It isn't always the case, but with manure, the environment and the cropping systems benefit with a long-term manure management plan.
Geo-referenced soil sampling to 24" depths and an annual fertility check-up are important pieces of information.
The picture at the top was an N-rich fertilizer trial that was initiated to test our fertility recommendations with one of our clients, Ulrich Pork Farm Ltd. of Spalding. CropPro's fertilizer recommendation was pronounced correct after the trial revealed that additional nitrogen in the plots reduced yields by 10%. This type of information provides valuable insight into how our manure managment plan is working.
A manure management plan is an essential component of all intensive livestock operations.
