Imagery MAPS
CropPro has image sources from satellite and from our quad mounted real-time sensor, the GreenSeeker. Having a large database of images over several years and seasonal time frames gives us a wealth of information.
The image on the right closely resembles the CropPro Zones on the far right. Poor vegetative growth (red areas) in the image are areas around sloughs and depressions that have salinity and spring moisture issues. The image looks quite good, but when in the field it lacks the fine resolution of the CropPro Zones.
Images are useful if yield MAPS are not available. They provide a general index of how a field should yield. Although they are not going to do this with great accuracy, they do provide valuable insight into the yield potential of the zones.
The GreenSeeker is used when high resolution images or field trials in small strips need a fast, reliable NDVI-R analysis.
We have not found images to be the finest layer for developing Zone MAPS. However, they are still very useful.
